Miqui Otero (Barcelona, 1980) debuted with the acclaimed novel Hilo musical (2010), winner of the FNAC New Talent award. Two years later came La cápsula del tiempo (2012), book of the year according to Rockdelux. He has written regularly in media such as El País and the Cultura/s supplement of La Vanguardia, and is currently a columnist for El Periódico. He also teaches journalism and literature at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. With Rayos (2016), celebrated by critics as the new "great Barcelona novel", he established himself as one of the most prominent voices on the Spanish literary scene. His ambitious novel Simón (2020) won the Ojo Crítico Award, was a finalist for the Dulce Chacón award, appeared on all the best lists of that year and confirmed the favor of the public and critics. With an audiovisual adaptation in progress, it has been translated into several languages. Orquesta (Alfaguara, 2024) is his latest novel.
